Artist Statement:
Two minimal constructions -- we can be what they are doing is a generative system in which one short recording of a viola is fed into a series of closely-set delays feeding into more closely-set delays; via customized probabilities, delay lengths and feedback values shift (in both sonically discreet and indiscreet ways) over time, allowing for a deformed temporality to emerge. Live at Studio Soto (8.29.12) investigates the collision of numeric data and audio rates via separate pitch groups each comprised of several sine wave oscillators. Each group is singled out, then the three groups simultaneously explore the fringes of operating within high data rates as the groups try interrupting one another. Both pieces were created in Max/MSP. //////// CP, who records as cpark, is a composer, musician, and artist who lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island.
